Rocks and mud, all in a day’s work
The mountain bike season is in full swing, and Live Love Velo racers have enjoyed success at several events in recent weeks.
Diana, Lisa, Tori and Kim all represented at the H2H Bulldog Rump, held at Kittatinny in New Jersey. There was no rest to be had on the rough 7 mile course, and there were close finishes in all categories. Tori rode strongly, and with a fast finishing 3rd lap, took second place in the women’s Cat1/Pro, in a time of 1:51:21, less than a minute behind the winner.
In July, Kim headed upstate to the Stewart Super Six Pack. For those not familiar with the 6 hour format, racers attempt to complete as many laps of the course as they can in the 6 hour time. Any lap started within the 6 hour time period can be completed; pushing out the riding time for many racers to over 7 hours. The lap at Stewart was around 10 miles long. With the exception of a few smelly mud puddles, the course was dry and fast, with a lot of flowing single track. Really good fun to ride, even after 6 hours! Kim headed out and managed to ride six fairly consistent laps in 6:03:52, taking 3rd place.
